Marbella-History Is Made: Three Michelin Stars’ Home Run for Dani Garcia!

Exciting news for Dani Garcia, Marbella and gastronomic powerhouse Spain.
 
Last week, master chef Dani Garcia received Michelin’s highest accolade. And so, Marbella-born Garcia became the first chef in the province of Malaga with three Michelin stars. His eponymous restaurant in the Puente Romano Resort of Marbella was elevated from two to three stars in Michelin´s 2019 selection.

Although Spain and Portugal count a combined total of 30 new-starred restaurants, Dani Garcia was the only new 3-star addition. Michelin’s inspectors noted that ‘’García has conquered the top echelon with his unique way of reformulating Andalusian cuisine in a contemporary way, ensuring that each development tells a different story based on products related to local traditions’’.

According to Michelin, the inspectors ’’also fell in love with the game of contrasts true to Garcia´s  'contradiction-in-the-kitchen’ Leitmotif'', as well as '' the staging of a large part of his dishes''.

Grupo Dani Garcia counts 2 further restaurants in Marbella: Bibo in Puente Romano and Lobito de Mar just a stone throw away from Bibo, on the Golden Mile.

Short Bio

After completing his studies in 1996 at the Escuela de Hostelería La Cónsula in Malaga, Dani Garcia began his career with Martín Berasategui, a 3-star awarded master chef with his eponymous restaurant in the north of Spain. Dani obtained his first Michelin star at the age of 25 with the Tragabuches restaurant in Ronda.
 

Other Michelin starred restaurants in the area

Marbella currently counts three one-star restaurants: Skina, Messina and El Lago.

In Casares, Kabuki Raw holds 1 star, and in the Fuengirola / Benalmadena area, restaurant Sollo, in the Reserva del Higueron Resort, also enjoys 1 Michelin star.
