Nueva Andalucia in Marbella

Nueva Andalucia: peaceful and idyllic residential estate close to the vibrancy of Puerto Banus

History and character

Nueva Andalucía is the largest district of Marbella, extending over several square kilometres.

Just like its neighbour Puerto Banus, it was created by that famous developer from Madrid, Jose Banus, who acquired all the land just north of Puerto Banus, which is now named Nueva Andalucia. Its main infrastructure was installed shortly after the completion of the iconic marina in 1970. The area has seen a steady wave of growth from the start until 1989, and again in the first years of the new millennium.

The urbanisation of Nueva Andalucia is well thought out and, as its name suggests, the architectural style of the villas and apartments was originally based on traditional Andalusian architecture and design.

Eastern and Western sections

The western section of Nueva Andalucia comprises urbanisations with smaller, less expensive properties, including La Campana village and La Torre de Andalucía.

The eastern section includes many sectors of high quality properties. It includes the renowned Golf Valley with its 3 flagship courses Las Brisas, Los Naranjos and Aloha golf. The area is characterised by huge villas, exclusive gated communities, luxurious apartment complexes and several commercial centres, together creating a large international community that has it all.

Although Puerto Banus often grabs the headlines and attracts party goers and socialites, the idyllic charm and tranquillity of Nueva Andalucía offers relief from the vibrancy of Puerto Banus.

Main attractions and attributes

The main attraction of  Nueva Andalucia is its excellent connectivity. It benefits from quick and easy access to the A7 coastal road, to the centre of Marbella, the Golden Mile and of course to Puerto Banús and its beaches, associated amenities (not in the least the country´s second largest El Corte Inglés department store) and nightlife, some of which are within walking distance.

Another benefit, owing to its large size, is the presence of several small commercial centres and many top quality restaurants, many of them within walking distance, which makes it easy to shop for essentials or to enjoy a nice meal and drink close to home. The largest commercial centre is Centro Plaza, with numerous shops and bars, a SuperSol supermarket, gym, beauty salon, banks and a pharmacy.  It also has a Saturday morning market. A wide variety of international cuisine can be found in the 20+ restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Last but not least, we need to mention the proximity of many prestigious and beautifully cared for golf courses.  Wherever you are, there is the stunning backdrop of La Concha and its surrounding mountains as well as these first class golf courses. Not without reason the area is dubbed the Golf Valley of Marbella and considered to be the ultimate golfer’s paradise.

Sports - Schools - Hotel - Lake

Nueva Andalucia has plenty of sport facilities and schools on offer with many tennis, paddle tennis and gym facilities as well as the Aloha Sports Club on its territory. Among the many schools, we should mention the renowned Aloha International College.

One famous hotel is the  H10 Andalucía Plaza Adult Only hotel, formerly known as the Hotel Andalucía Plaza. It was built as part of Jose Banus's original project, including the associated  casino. The hotel enjoys a private underpass for guests to walk to the marina and the beach.

In the northern part of Nueva Andalucia is the small but pleasant Turtle Lake, home to many water birds - and turtles indeed - taking refuge. It´s also a popular place in summer for families to enjoy a picnic or have a swim.
