Ten kilometers of white sandy beaches with dunes, beautiful country side and some of the best windsurfing conditions in Europe have established Tarifa as a true surfer’s paradise. Apart from the stunning beaches, Tarifa is a charming cozy little town, with narrow cobbled street, tumbling jasmine and beautiful wrought-iron rejas make Tarifa old town a pleasant place for a stroll.
Whale watching is a tourist, as well as educational activity. It consist of sailing in the Strait of Gibraltar looking for and identifying the different types of whales and dolphins that live or migrate in this area. The sheer diversity between temperatures, salt contents, currents and natural environment of these water stretches, generate two distinct animal habitats which curiously enough, need each other to survive.

A number of different projects, including a tourist complex of country cottages for rent, have made this delightful spot the ideal place for a first-class holiday in contact with nature.
The luxury hotel trade of the nearby Costa del Sol has not yet exploited this very rural atmosphere and there are few places to stay overnight. There are some modest hotels and various local restaurants in the vicinity, where you can enojoy local dishes.

Gibraltar:

The Rock of Gibraltar is located at the entrance of the Mediterranean Sea. Its strategic location and history have made it an international symbol of solidity and strength, and it frequently features in the world press and media. Gibraltar is connected to Spain by a sandy isthmus, a ferry to Morocco and flights to London. Gibraltar has been a British Territory since 1704. The locally elected Government of Gibraltar has created a solid economy.
Gibraltar is also very famous for its monkeys. The Gibraltar Monkey or “Barbary Macaques” are considered by many to be the top tourist attraction there. The most popular troop is the one in Queen’s Gate at The Apes’ Den. People can get especially close to the monkeys. These tail-less monkeys approach and sometimes even climb onto people as they are used to human interaction. A fun and unforgettable experience.

White Villages - De Witte Dorpen - Pueblos Blancos

The White Towns of Andalusia or Pueblos Blancos, are a series of towns and large villages in the northern part of the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga in southern Spain, mostly within the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park.

The White Villages owe their name to the way their residents often scatter lime on the walls of their houses. They seem to be inserted like birds nest into the mountains and usually adorned by a castle. Red tiled roofs and narrow streets complete the appearance of a typical “Pueblo Blanco”.

These villages have been there since prehistoric times, and some of the local caves have ancient rock paintings. Many cultures have left their mark on the region, but the most influential was that of the Moors. The narrow, winding streets have a distinct, Arabic feel to them, though each village has at least one Roman Catholic Church.

The whitewashed villages of Andalucia are impressive historical monuments in themselves, and their people still live according to age-old traditions, inherited from their Iberian, Roman and Moorish forefathers.

Many of the villages near the coast have become fashionable resorts, while still conserving their ancient charm, whereas others, lost in the highlands of Andalucia, remain rough and ready olive-farming towns, with a special appeal for the adventurous travelers.

Most Andalusian towns began as fortresses, which stood along the ever-fluctuating frontier between the Christian and Moorish realms, as is apparent in the names of such towns as “Jerez de la Frontera”, “Arcos de la Frontera…. Over centuries, many have developed into thriving agricultural centers for producing olive oil, fruit and vegetables and goat’s milk.

The climate is mild and the surrounding countryside is green and pleasant.

Om de voornaamste "Witte Dorpen" te noemen: Casares, Gaucín, Jimena de la Frontera, Benahavís, Istan, Ojén, Monda, Mijas Pueblo en Benalmadena Pueblo.
